I am Ma. Teresa Mangat Robles, daughter of the late Pacita Sespene Mangat, former teacher of Ibajay Academy and of the public elementary school, and the late Alberto T. Mangat of Filipinas Life Assurance company. Married to Rex Suyod Robles, Administrative Officer IV of Ibajay District Hospital and we are blessed with three children.

I had my elementary grades at Ibajay Central School, graduated high school at Ibajay Academy and finished my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Colegio de San Agustin de Bacolod in Bacolod City. My first job was at Ibajay Emergency Hospital as staff nurse and health educator designate for 12 years; transferred to Ibajay Rural health Unit as Nurse-II public health nurse for 6 years, until my promotion to the Dept. of Health as Nurse-III as DOH representative which I hold till the present time.

As DOH representative to Northwest Aklan Cluster, composed of five municipalities namely, Tangalan, Ibajay, Nabas, Malay and Buruanga, I am responsible for monitoring compliance to all DOH programs and projects.

The Department of Health (DOH) thru the Rural Health Units (RHU) and hospitals in the province of Aklan provide the following services:

1A. MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH

Pre-natal for mothers four times during pregnancy preferably once every semester; immunization of tetanus toxoid (TT1 & TT2); giving of iron and iodine supplements

Delivery – preferably at health facilities like hospital and health centers by professional and skilled birth attendants (doctors, nurses and midwives)

Post-natal care – clinic and home visits and provision of iron and Vit. A supplements

Family Planning / Reproductive Health

1B. CHILD CARE

Expanded programs on immunization held every Wednesday at rural health unit level and once a month at barangay health center.

BCG – anytime after birth

Hepa 1 – initial dose given during the first 24 hrs. after birth and two more doses I month after the initial dose .

DPT - initial dose given after 2nd month of birth and every month thereafter till 3 doses are completed.

Polio – same as DPT

Measles – given once at nine months old.

Control of acute respiratory infection – utilizing integrated management of childhood illness strategy.

Control of Diarrheal Diseases

Giving of Vit. A, Iron supplements and De worming of children

Breastfeeding program advocacy

 

2. NATIONAL TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL PROGRAM

Sputum examination

Giving of TB drugs according to treatment protocol based on World Health Organization recommendations

3. LEPROSY CONTROL PROGRAM

Screening of reported and identified cases

Provision of drugs

4. RABIES CONTROL PROGRAM

Provision of anti-rabies vaccine to canine

Provision of initial dose of human anti-rabies vaccine

Presence of Animal Bite Centers at cluster areas

Following strictly treatment protocol based on DOH guidelines / policies

Compliance to Responsible Pet Ownership ordinance as monitored by local govt agency

5. DENGUE CONTROL PROGRAM

Adoption of anti-dengue ordinance

Compliance to 4's (search & destroy, seek early consultation, self-protective measures and say No to indiscriminate fogging

Health education and conduct survey

6. MAINTAINING PHILHEALTH INDIGENCY PROGRAM to avail of out-patient and in-patient benefit package; TB and Maternity benefit package.

7. ADVOCATING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

 

The health sector of Aklan Province, particularly the Northwestern Aklan Cluster, is requesting generous, and loving donors from individuals abroad and our local residents to continuously support us through your donations in kind and financial assistance to augment our inadequacies in sustaining the rendering of quality health care services at hospitals, rural health units and barangay health stations, to our constituents and less privileged brothers and sisters.
