CORAZON TUMBOCON MIROY was born on March 26, 1916 in Tagbaya, Ibajay Aklan to the late spouses Moises Tumbocon Tumbocon and Desposoria Castillo Fuentes.
She was the 4 th child of the 11 siblings. Her brothers and sisters were: Pedro, Ceferino, Francisco, Claro, Consuelo, Leonito I, Ester, Leonito II, Manuel and Fulgencio.

She finished her elementary education at Ibajay elementary School in 1928 and obtained her high school diploma from Ibajay Academy. In March 1941, she got her Elementary Teacher’s Certificate (ETC) from the National Teacher’s College and on March 30, 1958 she finished Bachelor of Science in Education at Northwestern Visayan Colleges.
She started teaching at Tagbaya Primary School in 1941. She was then transferred to various schools – Ibajay Central School, Ondoy Primary School, Agbago Primary School and Laguinbanua Primary School. She became teacher-in-charge from 1963 to 1968 and was finally transferred to Ibajay Central School where she retired on March 26, 1976 at the age of 60 with 35 years in service. After retiring, she then served as the treasurer of Melchor Memorial School for so many years but finally stopped working due to her health problems.
Married to the late Zacarias Tabuyan Miroy of Ibajay, Aklan, with whom she had 5 children, namely; Rowena, Jesus, Wilson, Rey and Froebel. Rowena “Neneng” was married to the late Eduardo Bagtas of Orion, Bataan; Jesus “Jessie” married Merlina Peji of Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite; Wilson “Baby” married Ma. Jeanette Ida Iris Yabut of Kalibo, Aklan; Rey “Dodoy” married Lea Meciano of Marinduque; Froebel “Boy” married Ma. Mujane Begonia Calizo of Ibajay, Aklan.
Of the 5 couples came forth twenty-three (23) grandchildren. Edwin M. Bagtas, Edgar M. Bagtas, Raquel M. Bagtas, Roselle M. Bagtas, Edmund M. Bagtas, Jeffrey P. Miroy, Jason P. Miroy, Gracia Celeste Y. Miroy, Marian Divine Y. Miroy, Leowil Zacarius Y. Miroy, Wilson Adriann Y. Miroy, Zenith Millennie Y. Miroy, Christine Reyelle M. Miroy, Christian Rex M. Miroy, Cherisse Coleen M. Miroy, Christer Zandrei M. Miroy, Liamm Deneb Zacariah C. Miroy, Lionel Ben Perseus C. Miroy, Laurenz Cepheus Abram C. Miroy, Lexter Moises Alnair C. Miroy, Ramonito D. Miroy, Melody D. Miroy, Ester D. Miroy.
She was not only a good daughter, a good wife, a good mother, a good friend, and a good teacher but truly she was a very special grandmother. She was strict but in a loving manner. Although “Lola” don’t usually say “palangga ko ikaw” she demonstrated it in a different way. A disciplinarian but she had a good and honest intention to mold her children and grandchildren to become productive and successful someday.
CORAZON TUMBOCON MIROY
Corazon Tumbocon Miroy reached her final journey after almost 88 years of living, in the early morning of February 8, 2004 to an everlasting life. Although she is physically gone, her legacy remains. “Lola” will always be in our hearts.
