Ibajay is gifted with natural resources, the seas, rivers, falls, mountains and caves and the traditions of the people are among the pride of Ibajaynon.

The Ati-ati Festival during the 3rd week of January is one of the known events local and foreign tourist witness. It is for these reasons that a group of tourism enthusiasts have that leadership to organize a council that will lead the events and spearhead the development of its beauty spots. Sometime in October 16, 2000 Hon. Plaridel M. Solidum, ABC President, Sanguniang Bayan Member and Chairman in Tourism Committee invited Social Science Teachers/Instructors from the Elementary, High School and College of Ibajay together with some officials to have an ocular visit of the beauty spots of Ibajay. It was on this event that the KIPOT FALLS of Mabusao, LINGGANAY CAVE of Regador, SULI FALLS of Regador, MANGROVES of Bugtongbato were known to the academicians, the students and residents frequently visited these places since then. November 12, 2003 an Ad Hoc Committee was formed to spearhead the Search for Miss and Mr. Ibajay Tourism 2004 with Hon. Plaridel M. Solidum as the presiding officer. November 25, 2003 was the first Organizational Meeting of the council. The office of the Municipal Mayor issued an Executive Order No. 08 series 2003 “Creating and constituting the Municipal Tourism Council of the Municipality of Ibajay, Province of Aklan,” and it is chaired by Hon. Roberto M. Garcia Jr. as the Honorary Chairman. January 16, 2004 the members of the council were inducted into office. The maiden project which was successful was the Search for Mr. and Miss Ibajay Tourism 2004 wherein the 35 barangays of Ibajay showcase their own beauty spots, culture and tradition.

The council at present is the one who recommends to the policy making body the policies regarding the development of the tourism industry of Ibajay and to disseminate information and spearhead the local tourism activities.

This is a call to all Ibajaynons to revisit Ibajay and share your part in developing our own beauty spots to be known locally and internationally. ATON GID RA!!!
